Web Design Project Control
These projects are charged at our daily rate or at a fixed price for the whole design.
|
Step 1 |
Analysis of the client's requirements. There are several stages of website deployment:
-
E-Mail. Provides customers with a contact point.
-
Static Website. This establishes a simple web presence, also known as Brochureware.
-
Portal. Interactive tools to retrieve information about the client's company, plus colateral data access, search engines, etc. This will add usefulness to the site and create brand loyalty.
-
E-Commerce. Allows customers to buy products via simple order forms.
-
E-Business. Integrates a website into order processing, shipping, and database systems.
|
Step 2 |
Presentation to the client by the Production Manager outlining our understanding of the client's requirements. Based on this meeting (including client's confirmation of final requirements), the Production Manager will put together a Design Proposal which will include:
- flow chart of design
- recommended procedures (development of a prototype if necessary)
- roles and responsibilities
- people and skills involved
- overall time frame and deadline
- delivery procedures including milestone meetings
- updates and maintenance
- costs
The Design Proposal has to be accepted in writing by the client.
|
Step 3 |
Based on the acceptance of the Design Proposal by the client (their alterations included), we will start developing the web site, covering the following areas:
- domain name registration
- research
- graphic design
- HTML construction
- development of any interactive scripts
- code checking with weblint
|
Step 4 |
Half-way through the development and as outlined in the Design Proposal, we will meet with the client for review of the design so far. This will be the graphic design work, the HTML construction, and any interactive scripts. Additional or alternative requirements/changes will be negotiated and additional development costs agreed. Based on the this meeting, we will construct the site and combine the various components thereof. Then we will perform internal acceptance testing of the web site.
|
Step 5 |
We will meet with the client for review of the final product on our server. Following this meeting, we will make changes as agreed. Additional cost will be negotiated at the meeting if such changes were not specified in the original specification, or in any alterations to it which followed Step 4. We will then finish the product and upload it to a Web Server as specified by the client. A maintenance contract is to be agreed separately, if required.
