Sprietlopen (Dutch Log Running)This water game from the Netherlands is all about balance. Contrary to dunk tanks you have a small chance to stay dry if you win the whole championship by not falling in. The participants try to walk across a canal on a wooden beam. Most will lose their balance and fall into the water sooner or later. This is of course exciting fun for both participants and spectators. All participants in dry clothes make it into the next round. This goes on until only one participant remains dry and usually gets thrown into the water by the other players. It sometimes happens that the last two participants both fall into the water. Then they continue in wet clothes until someone does better and becomes the champion. When there are too many participants they run preliminaries of two rounds first. Especially younger contestants manage to stay dry for longer, so the organisers make each round more difficult to make them fall into the water. Hardly anyone reaches the other side in the second round, because they use soap to make the beam slippery. Whoever goes the most meters before the plunge wins the championship. Pillow FightsIn some events the participants fight each other with pillows standing or riding on the beam above the water. They usually fall in both, but whoever stays on the beam longest wins that match and goes on to the next round. Prize for Best ClothingAlmost everybody wears clothes for this game. To make it more interesting there are prizes for the best dressed participants, one each for youth and seniors. Wear comfortable clothes to protect you from scrapes and bruises. Make sure these clothes feel good when wet. You'll probably fall into the water early on and then wear the wet clothes for the rest of the event. Eventually everybody is soaking wet and happy.
