Water Games

Water games build up agility, stamina, initiative and team spirit while showing the connection between swimming and fun. Loosen up you class or swimming group.

Fun ways to learn new skills

The games here have been adapted from a number of sources, the best being ideas from our readers. Some are old games that have been modified to play in a swimming pool. Most of them work nicely with six or more participants, but you can make them suit the number, ages and skill levels of your group.

Safety

Before you jump in, there are several things to consider. Always maintain a high level of safety and supervise your group when they are in or near water, no matter how good swimmers they are. Many of these games use clothes to add interest or increase the training level. Make sure your group is trained in clothed swimming.

Variety and Speed

People love to play in the water, but get tired of the same games all the time. Vary the games and outfits so that everyone can do something well. Get the better swimmers to wear more clothes so the weaker swimmers have a fair chance. The faster the pace, the more the game will hold your group's interest.
